WASHINGTON, May 11 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Commerce SecretaryCarlos Gutierrez will discuss "The Economics of Immigration" when thenation's major retail companies gather in Washington next week forthe National Retail Federation's 72nd annual Washington LeadershipConference.
Gutierrez is scheduled to speak at 11:45 a.m., Tuesday, May 15, inthe main ballroom of the National Press Club, 13th Floor, 529 14thSt. NW, Washington. Gutierrez will update retailers about progressthat is being made to pass immigration reform and discuss theeconomics of immigration. The event is open to the news media andcoverage is invited. Media should check in beginning at 11:15 a.m.

In addition to hearing from Gutierrez, participantswill lobby Congress on a variety of issues important to the retailindustry including employee health insurance, international trade,credit card interchange, minimum wage, tax policy, immigrationreform, data security, organized retail theft, paid worker leave andother topics.
