Qld: Hill sacked over One Nation split
BRISBANE, Dec 13 AAP - Former Queensland One Nation senator-elect Heather Hill was
sacked late today for the part she played in the breakaway registration of One Nation
Queensland.
Ms Hill, who had worked as policy adviser to Queensland One Nation Senator Len Harris,
was sacked after Senator Harris had earlier described her as disloyal to him and the party.
Ms Hill has been registered as the new secretary of One Nation Queensland.
"I advised her that it was mutually inconsistent for her to continue to work in one
political office while being involved with the re-registration of the five politicians,"
Senator Harris told AAP tonight.
"She cordially packed her things and left the office," Senator Harris said.
Pauline Hanson's One Nation Party has promised to fight the move by the five state
parliamentarians to set up One Nation Queensland.
One Nation's parliamentary leader in Queensland, Bill Feldman, and four of his colleagues
registered One Nation Queensland as a separate, state-based political party.
The five MPs said they had been in political limbo since One Nation was deregistered
in Queensland last month when the Supreme Court ruled the party's original registration
was fraudulent and dishonest.
An appeal has been lodged, but will not be heard until next year.
Pauline Hanson's One Nation Party national director David Oldfield said the registration
of the new party was "a mutiny" and joint national director David Ettridge threatened
legal action if the breakaway group tried to use the trademark name One Nation.
Senator Harris said the five had ruled themselves ineligible to be members of Ms Hanson's
political party.
"The democratic process has been totally ignored," Senator Harris said today.
They had created a new political party and once this was accepted by the Electoral
Commission Queensland (ECQ), they would no longer be members of One Nation, he said.
But Mr Feldman told journalists he was puzzled by the furore, because the "two Davids"
had supported his plan on Friday.
He said One Nation Queensland would remain a party of the One Nation family.
The position of state president had been reserved for Ms Hanson, who was in the United
States until January.
Mr Feldman said it did not matter if Ms Hanson declined the position, because she was
the national president of Pauline Hanson's One Nation and the two entities were closely
affiliated.
Pauline Hanson's One Nation vice-president for Queensland Allan Doak told reporters
the registration had been planned without consultation and would be appealed.
"The democratic process has been totally ignored by this rebellious act, which should
be seen as nothing more than an ill-conceived and futile attempt at takeover of Pauline
Hanson's One Nation in Queensland by a minor group that seek to impose their views on
our members," Mr Doak said.
