QLD: Borbidge lodges complaint with CJC
Queensland Opposition leader ROB BORBIDGE says he's lodged a formal complaint to the
Criminal Justice Commission over Labor's involvement in the NET BET affair.
Treasurer DAVID HAMILL stood aside yesterday under mounting pressure following his granting
of Queensland's first Internet gambling licence to a company linked to three Labor figures.
The auditor-general has been asked to investigate but Mr BORBIDGE says there should be a
full independent judicial inquiry into the granting of the licence to Gocorp.
Mr BORBIDGE says the involvement of the Labor party figures is a scandal which has created
strong public concern.
Premier PETER BEATTIE has said he'll legislate retrospectively to stop the three figures
profiting from the deal, although Mr HAMILL insists all of the correct procedures were
followed.
